Welcome to Washington DC's Only Walking Tour Company Dedicated Exclusively to the History of the LGBTQIA+ Community!

Our Story.

Comprised of seasoned educators, historians, and tour guides, DC Pride Walks is Washington, DC's first tourism company dedicated exclusively to the LGBTQIA+ history of the city. On our walks, guests visit Washington DC's most iconic monuments, sites, and neighborhoods while learning the history of the LGBTQIA+ community from the days of the American Revolution to the present. Our tours highlight the stories of Washingtonians who bravely fought to protect their local communities and jobs and helped create a foundation of activism that continues to thrive in the city today. As the nation's capital, Washington, DC has been the site of the fight to secure equal rights for the LGBTQIA+ community across the United States and the world. As such, our mission is to portray an accurate history by translating scholarly research into the public sphere; to share the stories and oral histories of activists and allies who are no longer with us; and to spark conversations between guides and guests that inspire continued activism across a broad LGBTQIA+ platform. With passionate guides focusing on the intersection of inclusive tourism, political activism, community engagement, and social justice, DC Pride Walks uses the lenses of queer theory and gender analysis to highlight a very different history of Washington, DC.
